Shawnalea Shelly - Owner

The founder and principal consultant for ErgoWest is Shawnalea Shelly. Shawnalea is a certified Ergonomist and licensed Occupational Therapist. As an Occupational Therapist, Shawnalea Shelly has extensive experience in the rehabilitation of injured workers and modification of work activities to accommodate residual deficits or disabilities.  While working with hundreds of injured workers, Shawnalea noted that many work-related musculoskeletal injuries could have been be avoided with better awareness of basic injury prevention concepts such as microbreaks, task variation, work practice modification, and neutral position.

Since 1997 Shawnalea has been consulting with forward thinking employers in the western United States to prevent work-related injuries and optimize worker productivity and comfort.  She combines expertise and in-depth knowledge of industrial and office ergonomics with a thorough understanding of neutral posture, biomechanics, and pathophysiology.  Shawnalea has a remarkable ability to transform complex medical and biomechanical information into simple, understandable concepts that relate to our everyday experiences.  As a dynamic presenter and educator, Shawnalea frequently presents at national, regional, and state conferences for occupational health and safety.  She has authored and co-authored articles that have been published in national and regional business and industry publications.

In 2005, Shawnalea became credentialed by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics.  She is currently licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in Arizona, Washington, and Oregon. Shawnalea received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Colorado State University.
